We process most refunds the same day they are received.  Once we have processed your refund, it can take up to 7–10 business days for the funds to be released by your financial institution.  How long it takes for your funds to be made available depends on your specific financial institution – every financial institution is different, and once we process the refund we have no control over how long it will take for your funds to be released.

Most of the services that we offer here at Brain Host, including hosting plans and many account upgrades, are sold on a subscription basis.  You purchase the service for a certain amount of time, and when that time period is up you’ll be charged a renewal fee in order to continue to receive that service.  For example, if you purchase a 1-year hosting plan, you will be charged again for your hosting plan in one year.  In the video below we’ll go over how renewal charges work and when you can expect to be billed again for your services.  If you’d prefer to view this tutorial in written format, a link to a PDF version is also available on this page.

Why didn't my payment go through?

June 29th, 2011 by admin

Common reasons that your payment may have failed include:

1. Address failed verification with our processor – this is usually because the address you have on file with the credit card company is different from the address you entered on the payment form.

2. Insufficient funds available on your credit card.

3. Data entry error – check to be sure you have entered your card number, expiration date, CVC code, etc. correctly.

4. Connection interruption.

In the event of payment failure, we will attempt it again three times. This could take place over the course of several days, so if your payment fails once you should contact your financial institution to make sure that the funds will be available by the next business day.

If none of our attempts to process your payment are successful, we will suspend the service.

How do I register another domain name?

June 29th, 2011 by admin

With your Brain Host account you have the ability to host unlimited domain names through one account. To register another domain name (also referred to as creating an addon domain), simply contact Customer Support by calling 1-800-311-9418 or submitting a ticket at http://www.brainhost.com/help/.

When you contact Customer Support, you will need to provide the name of the new domain you want to register, as well as your account information (the email address associated with your account, your name, and your address). How do I log into my WordPress backend?

June 21st, 2011 by admin

WordPress is the blog software that is installed on your website. Unfortunately not.  Once you have registered (purchased) a domain name it’s yours to keep.   That’s why it’s important you choose a good domain name and check to make sure it’s spelled properly when you register it.

What you can do is just register the new domain as well, and then let the old one expire after the period you’ve paid for passes.

Keep in mind that you may opt to re-direct the old domain to the new domain. And you can park the new domain over the old one.

On the hosting account, if you want to switch your domain with a new one, you can do that by opening a support ticket.

Brain Host’s recent Facebook sweepstakes yields $3,104 for Habitat for Humanity of Summit County

Akron, OH—On Friday, January 11, 2013, Brain Host presented charitable partner Habitat for Humanity of Summit County with a check for $3,104. This initial donation was the proceeds from the Facebook sweepstakes the local web hosting provider ran throughout December 2012.

With this donation, Brain Host is not only contributing to a local project, but is able to officially sponsor a new house being built in the community. Groundbreaking will be in Spring 2013, and volunteers from the company will participate in the construction of the home.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to help those in need, and for the generosity of our clients,” says Brain Host President and CEO Ryan Niddel. “We are very pleased that we’re able to make such a positive impact with our first of many contributions to Habitat for Humanity.”

Brain Host donated $1.00 for each of the 1552 new Facebook “likes” received in December, then matched the final amount. Jim Sukys, Habitat for Humanity of Summit County’s Director of Development, visited the company’s corporate office to receive the donation. Look for other campaigns and opportunities to give coming soon, as well as monthly progress reports and updates on the company blog.
